TOOLKIT : Program Curriculum & Activities
Innovative and engaging outdoors programming connects children and teens with the outdoors, teaches participants about the importance of land and wildlife conservation and stewardship, allows opportunities for play and fosters an appreciation of outdoor spaces. We have collected a number of curriculum ideas and activities to share with anyone interested in starting or building upon a current outdoors program.
What It Means To Serve
Service is a key component of many YMCA programs. In the Youth Outdoors Initiative, service takes on new dimensions as children and teens expand their ideas of what it means to serve others to include being good stewards of the natural world. Youth Outdoors Initiative service projects teach kids to be socially responsible in the spaces where they spend time having fun, learning and growing. Consider the following, as you design the right service project for participants:
Identifying Service Opportunities
Communicating With Families
Communicating About Your Project
Adapting To Your Group
Preparing To Serve
